My cousin is pregnant and is thinking about going red during pregnancy. I told her I thought chemicals are not allowed while pregnant. What is your take?

I have no idea if it is safe or not, but henna might work, as it's a natural substance which has been used for thousands of years to produce red hair.

Anyone have any info to share re its safety?

I found this article: Hair Treatment during Pregnancy - American Pregnancy Association My personal opinion is that I would not since there are SO many birth defects and conditions now and I would want to know (and I did with my son) that I did everything possible to protect his health before and after birth. So many parents end up spending their lives wondering if something they did caused a defect or condition. Plus, how many times have they told us something was safe and later changed their minds. Perhaps a little inconvenience to help assure a healthy baby...............

No unnecessary chemical exposure of any kind. Pregnancy hair looks great on its own from what I have seen on many ladies. Its good to give yourself a break from chemical exposure anyway pregnant or not.

When my wife and I were trying and she was studying up and talking to doctors colouring hair was not a good idea.
Why risk putting all those chemicals on your scalp and risk anything getting into baby?
The experts might say it is Ok today but tomorrow change their tune. I heard last night that drinking red wine might lead to cancer wasn't red wine good for us like just last week?? Thing is they jsut don't know so why risk it

If you really want to, then go with Naturtint, the blonde/red ones. Some of them don't have PPD, but the dark colors surely do.
