I think its time for me to share the joy of helping folks that are less fortunate than us on my children. I admit, I have been lacking myself in this area of late while raising my children. They range from age 5 - 12.
Can anyone suggest a good place to take my kids to help out on or around Thanksgiving serving meals? I would prefer the Golden Strip area if possible.
I would think that you would be able to call Miracle Hill or the Salvation Army and they could suggest somewhere. There will be a lot of people needing help this year I'm afraid. You are a good person for doing this! Meals on Wheels may need help also.
Meals on Wheels does not deliver on Thanksgiving day. We will be delivering multiple meals on Wed. before. The Salvation Army would probably be your best bet. There is a church across Poinsett from the Salvation Army that has feeds the homeless as well. I can not think of the name of it but would assume they will be furnishing a Thanksgiving meal.
Well since you said on or around Thanksgiving I would still suggest Meals on Wheels. They may need someone to help package the meals. I would suggest contacting local churches as well.
There is a church called The Well that meets at the Great Escape theater each Sunday. They put on a very big Feast For All on Thanksgiving for people in need.

I think I will help at the Well. It's in Simpsonville, so close to my home, then off to Grandma's for dinner in Fountain Inn after we help. Thanks for the info.
BTW, the 'Golden Strip' (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is considered Mauldin, Simpsonville and Fountain Inn.

That is correct and Simpsonville is known as "The Heart Of The Golden Strip".
