[sarcasm]The "there's something wrong with you if you don't like it here" attitude makes me want to stay so much more.[/sarcasm]

I dont want to live anywhere in the south! The bible belt is definitly not for us. I am so sick of people asking me what church I go to and see the horror on their face when I say nowhere. Southerners tend to be very nosy and think they always know best and I am over that school of thought. I am a teacher and I am also tired of being associated with this screwed up state for education. I feel my county is doing well but overall it is embarrassing. I want my child to grow up somewhere where there are people with open minds are intellegent and not prejudice and she can grow to be a strong happy individual. This is going to be very hard to accomplish in the south. We are not sure where we want to live but hopefully will be able to make a change in the near future.

As a transplant let me just say "the grass is always greener on the other side".

I am happy here in GA. Everyone complains about the educational system here in GA. I do understand some of the complaints but I would like to compliment GA for The Hope Scholarship. I come from a state that houses two of the most lucrative casinos in the country and they see very little from them due to the screwed up politicians that run the state. I was amazed to learn of The Hope Scholarship and the possibility of my children attending college for basically nothing. That is quite an incentive for students. The fact that it is paid for by the state lottery impressed me even further. I say good for GA.

My one complaint is with public transportation. There definately needs to be more public transportation and mass transit set up in this state. More specifically in Atlanta metro. I avoid Atlanta like the plague because I don't want to deal with the traffic. The state needs to deal with this soon, especially when it is dealing with such a population boom.

Good point about the Hope Scholarship. Maybe I will move back here for my childs college years to benefit from that. I deserve some sort of a break due to all of the taxes I have paid to this state over the years!

If I never have to set foot in this state again it'll be too soon.

AirTran does offer one way tickets.

It has officially been 2 years since I relocated to Georgia (Atlanta metro area). I'm ready to move back to the northeast in 2009. I thought that Georgia would grow on me and I would eventually like it. But, I'm more homesick now than 2 years ago . I don't regret moving here...I just chalk it up to a life experience. I miss NY so much. I'm ready to pay higher taxes & endure long winters just to be back "home".

Nothing wrong with that NYGirl. Actually, I am the same way for I would love to return to my "adopted hometown" of Southern New Jersey. I found something there in 92 that I have never found anywhere else and God knows I have lived all around with my career.

I do not dislike the Atlanta area except during July and August when it is so hot and humid I could cook eggs on my driveway. The issue I have is when folks state that they "hate" someplace. I guess it is the difference when one never leaves the pillow of America and actually experience war, death, and famine in other parts of the globe. With this, I can never find anyplace in America that I could "hate".

The Atlanta area has much to offer just go out and look for it. Granted, as stated in the Wizard of Oz there will never be no place like home.

Oh, thanks for the [/sarcasm] inserts...I never would have figured it out otherwise. Do you write for network television?
BTW, I don't think there's anything wrong with people that don't like it here...no place is for everybody. I do have a problem with those that whine incessantly about life here and then offer pathetic excuses as to why they stay.

I WISH my neighbors welcomed me or spoke to me! I live in upstate NY and no one here talks to anyone. And to have a neighbor repeatedly speak to me and invite to their church? Holy cow what I wouldn't give for that! And I'm not even religious....yes pray for me. Someone needs to so I can get out of this God-foresaken state and live with polite people!

I can only tell you maybe 5 of my neighbors including their spouses. And there's 6 houses around my property! I've lived in this house for over 7 years. One neighbor hates the fact that my house was built. I didn't even build it! She still b*thces about us and our house.

Here in craphole NY, our lottery is supposed - key word supposed - to help pay for our education system. Due to our idiots in office, very little is actually spent on education.

Plus we pay school taxes on top of property taxes. Most people only hear that we have high taxes, but not how high. My house is assesed for $221K (how they came up with that figure, I'll never understand. I think they were smoking crack the day the did the assessments) and we pay taxes on the full value for property taxes and on $127K for school taxes. Our combined school and property tax bills for the year is over $6. Hell, the freaking city doesn't even plow my street when it snows! We don't have school buses. So where does all of this money go???

Yes, we have a good state college system. But it is VERY expensive. You can attend a private school for just about as much. And there's hardly any scholarships in SUNY, but private schools give away lots of scholarships. Because of this if I were to stay in hell, I mean NY, it would cost me less to finish my degree at a private school! Oh and SUNY raised tution over $600 in mid year. How do you add that to your already sealed finanical aid package? Good ole NY.....take take take....tax tax tax.....Can't wait to leave the tax capitol of the US. Soon we'll be taxed on our sneezes!

Wow I can sure ramble! LOL
