Los Angeles
Chicago
Houston
Phoenix
San Antonio

In terms of what? In a broad overall sense i'd probably rank them as such:

Chicago, Phoenix then Philadelphia.

Detroit, Milwaukee, and Baltimore would be good contenders for "most different largest city in its state from the rest of that state" if they were listed. Las Vegas would also be up there

I think one could argue in some ways Las Vegas could give New York City a run for its money if they were both listed.

Surprised that Atlanta is not listed. In so many ways, Atlanta and the rest of Georgia might as well be in two different countries.
