The men have large "handlebar" mustaches, wear peaked hats with a feather stuck in the brim, white shirts and lederhosen shorts with kah-nee sox. They are often seen carrying tubas, with which they make German musik!

The women are busty and wear corsets that push up and show off their "wares." They are often seen carrying mugs of beer to the men.

Glad I could help.

My dad was pure German, he grew up in South St Louis, which was populated mostly with Germans. A popular insult at the time was "I wish I had your nose full of nickels!"
So, the nose thing must be true, been hearing that all my life!
Also, my mom, (also German) always told me that as soon as I was born, instead of Daddy asking the usual fingers/toes question, he asked whose nose I had, lol.

That's a myth well known to most genealogists. An immigrant's papers as well as the ship's passenger list were prepared before embarkation by people in her/his home country and were quite accurate, especially in the years immigrants came through Ellis Island. Generally immigrants changed their names after they were here, either because they were illiterate and couldn't spell or because they wanted to anglicize the name to avoid stigmas or better assimilate.

If they ask to see your papers they're probably German, but if they demand to see your papers you know they're German.

The western European Countries people look the same for the untrained eye.
When you get to east European I think most of us can tell a difference.

Really? I never heard of that and I never really saw it either when I lived there. The Swedish people are however known for those characteristics.

Yes, there is that Slavic look that's easy to discern.

I am of Dutch and English descent and people always assume I'm Irish.

When I lived in Germany I saw many blonds but not nearly as many as in Sweden.
