Well, it's definitely a stone fruit. I'd still vote "plum" but not with any degree of fervor.

Well, this is plum (I am waiting it to get full ripe so I can eat 'em!)


This is the mystery fruit tree (the photo is a few weeks old but the size of fruits are still approx. the same)


Maybe one more month wait till the fruits get bigger to get a better hint
