That's great to hear! I have had Bumblebees all over my Echineacea, & actually saw TWO Monarchs yesterday! A big yellow & black butterfly too, and even some honeybees on my pumpkin blossoms! That was great to see, but still the numbers are SO low compared to what it has always been here in Kansas. It really is kind of eerie.

I am seeing the same thing in eastern Kansas. So far this season, I've seen one monarch. That's it. And I don't know what's up with the hummingbirds either, because I've only seen one and that was two months ago.

Maybe the monarchs will show up in my yard again... I have lot of butterflies, though. They're enjoying the echinacea, phlox paniculata, lilium henry and casablanca lilies. But they're all over the spotted Joe pye Weed like it is butterfly crack.

LOTS of bees, here. I came home the other day and there were about 30 on my hummer feeder. They were all over it!! Not wasps, which we normally have, but bees.

Scientists discover what’s killing the bees and it’s worse than you thought – Quartz

Quote:
As we’ve written before, the mysterious mass die-off of honey bees that pollinate $30 billion worth of crops in the US has so decimated America’s apis mellifera population that one bad winter could leave fields fallow. Now, a new study has pinpointed some of the probable causes of bee deaths and the rather scary results show that averting beemageddon will be much more difficult than previously thought.

Thanks for the link!

This link is for the scientific publication:

With 87 citations, there is quite a bit for the naysayers and those that want to learn more.

Still have not seen a monarch. Thought I saw one the other day in my backyard but it was far away. It was a Gulf Fritillary, which have been numerous as usual. So bummed.
