We are in the process of relocating from South Florida to the Fort Worth area. My husbands company is located in Alliance Gtateway Park. We need to find a great school for my oldest son which has Autism and my youngest son who is placed in a "gifted" class this year. We are not picky about where we live we just need the best schools.

Keller Schools are the best!!
Are you looking to buy or rent?
There are lots of options and Keller is right outside of Alliance!!
If you need more help, let me know!
All the BEST

Want to buy. I have been looking at Keller homes online (250,000 to 325,000). Would like to find a home with a little more land but right now a good school is more important. Is Keller a big place? Would like a small town feel but still close to city. How are the property taxes in that area. I live north of Miami so you can imagine how high taxes are.

How much land?
Keller has a small town feeling, yet is close to Ft. Worth and Dallas, so close to the cities!
Texas has not state TX, yet the property tax may be a little higher than what you are use to, perhaps! Taxes are around $3,000 - $8,000 depending on the price of the house and such.
I've worked with a lady, Julie who has helped me find the right house in the past.
Her number is: 817-501-2590
She could help you with the search and better understand the what the tax structure would be.

I will surely give her a call. Our property tax and homeowner insurance is a killer here. Our home at 375,000 runs about 5,800 for property tax and 3,200 a year for insurance and that does not include flood. Was hoping it was a lot less there. Is there any other town out further with good schools? My husband has about a 30 to 40 minute commute now. So we are willing to live further.

Well then the Taxes should be any bigger of an issue!!
Insurance should be cheeper too!! And perhaps without Flood!!
Other Cities to consider would be Southlake, yet the lots are usually not too large.
How big of a lot are you looking for? Any special interests?
A little further North East of Dallas is a town called Frisco. They have outstanding schools to, yet I'm not sure where your husbands work area is.
A litte west of Ft. Worth is another great community called Benbrook.

We moved here from CA many years ago and were under the same search criteria.

He will be working in Alliance Gateway Park. I just spoke to him and he said that he would like to live close to that area. He is tired of a long commute. I guess Keller would be the better option, not sure what else is around there.

Get the Edge--Southlake and Keller city and ISD have about the highest tax rate and valuation around--so taxes there are higher than almost any other area in Tarrant county---
Benbrook is across FTW from where her husband is working and so is Frisco--neither is a desireable commute

The factor here is not taxes but what school district is the best fit for a child with Autism--and it might not be Keller...

run a search for special education or autism and see what threads come up
Children with autism have a wide range of ability and can't all fit into the same programs as every other child with autism...
some schools and ISDs are easier to work with than others...

Looking at all of your options is always Best.
Southake, as I also mentioned, is also a great district!
See below:

Carroll ISD Dragons
CISD Department of Special Programs - Special Programs (http://www.southlakecarroll.edu/SPED/specialed.html - broken link)

Keller is just one option!

By the way, Kellijo, Southlake is just on the other side of Keller, again easy for your husband to commute!

All The BEST!
