Would I be okay there with a bike as my sole means of transportation? (Thinking of going to CSU)

Fort Collins is very bike friendly, with a great bicycle culture. The city even has a full time bike coordinator.
The League of American Bicyclists rated us as one of the best in the nation:
City of Fort Collins Earns Bicycling Gold from the League of American Bicyclists: City of Fort Collins

At the city bicycling home page, you can access the city bike trails system map.

Here is a guide to some local cycling resources and places to connect with other cyclists for mountain and road rides.

Lots of bike lanes on the streets. There is also a pretty good bus system. But there will be periods during the winter when biking will be out of the question.

I managed to bike there throughout the winter when I attended CSU. It's funny how your perception of what is doable on a bike changes when you don't have a car to fall back on. I would suit up in my ski pants and goggles and jump on the bike. You can actually make your own "studded" tires for your bike as well by putting small screws in the tire, although I never had to do this.

I'm sure public transportation has improved greatly in Fort Collins since I lived there in the late 90s (and it wasn't even bad then). I imagine on the days that it's too yucky to bike, you can hop on the bus without a problem.
