Howdy. Can someone give me an idea of how windy Ft. Collins is? I can't find any weather summaries that have wind data. Thanks.

Breeziness is considerably above national average. This is to be expected anywhere the plains meet up against the mountains.

Gotta love it when an arctic cold front comes through the Front Range. Or those March winds...

"Hey neighbor, seen my garbage cans?"

;-) But true.

I went to school at CSU.
My then boyfriend stayed in the tower dormitories. Those dorms were built to sway with the wind.
Freshman year, on windy days, we'd go stand in the restroom and watch the water in the toilets moving. Sometimes it moved a lot.
This is how you get cheap thrills when you're a nerdy type.

Default wind in the fort

I lived in Fort Collins last year and it was very windy but the locals tell me it was very rare to have that much wind. I think the whole front range has some of the best weather in the country (if you like 4 seasons)

paste this link to get an idea about weather/wind. Scroll to the bottom of the page to compare the days in a montn. You can change the months and years but this should help.

Default Another Wind Q:

ANOTHER WIND Q
So, how does the wind really affect the weather?
For example on a sunny 34 degree day, with a high wind chill...does it make you feel so cold that you don't want to go outside? That is what scares me. I know you are probably thinking it is a stupid questions....but The midwest, when it gets windy it's usually gray & dreary and I don't want to go outside. But from what I gather, FC folks are very active and outdoors year-round...so it must not affect the people that much?
I don't know, when you look at the wind speed charts, it makes me concerned...otherwise, I am super excited about FC area. That is my one concern

Default Windy in FC/Loveland?

We currently live in a very windy area of Arizona. The wind makes it difficult to enjoy time outdoors even if the temperatures are comfortable. For example, right now the wind 25 mph with gusts of 29 and it's been doing this for days. I noticed in you local forecast that you are currently blowing around 4 mph with snow showers.

Also, I noticed that Fort Collins is ranked 5 and Loveland 8 in 101 windiest cities with a population over 50,000. Does this sound/feel right to you? You know how those lists can be deceptive. If you had to make a complaint about your weather, what would it be?

Thanks for your response.
