Just saw a commercial for it and they called it the Taurus SHO(show). Show is how they pronounced it. What is up with that? I always thought it was S. H. O.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I also remember that it was S-H-O but I guess it's now officially "show." I'll probably eventually get used to the new pronunciation, but for now it sounds corny. Perhaps the precedent was established when the SHO's motor was stuffed into a Ford Fiesta and christened as the SHOgun. What's next, the GTO becomes the "guh-toe?"
P.S. Current Road & Track has a comparo between the Taurus SHO and a Mitsubishi Evo MR.
Only Toyota haters pronounce it as turd. Officially it is T R D until the SHOW.
I had TRD parts on my car and called them "turd" parts.
As for the OP's question, it originally was S.H.O but w/o the periords. Stands for Super High Output. Naturally it picked up the "show" nickname, now even Ford calls it the SHO ("show"). Im not a fan of the "show" name, but I even catch myself saying it from time to time.
Screw trying to buy a high performance taurus. They are family cars and the ones with the standard engines are known to be much more dependable...The sho engine also cost more to repair. If you want a fast ford get a v8 stang bro.
