I had a '94 Ford Taurus Wagon that I used to move furniture, construction material and just large stuff in general. It was convenient to just have as an additional vehicle.

Well, it suffered a fatal accident (fatal to the car, all persons walked away without injury, phew!).

Anyways, back to topic. I've been looking for a car to replace it. There just aren't large station wagons around anymore. SUV's and Crossovers either don't have as deep cargo areas, or are to high off the ground for my preference.

Would anyone be able to recommend car of comparable size and function? I have no real budget, but don't want to spend any more than $25-$30k since this is really a utility vehicle for me and I have other cars for getting around. New or Used is fine.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks mrspeedyt.

I already had getting another taurus wagon in mind, but I just wanted to get some insight on other possible models that could meet my needs. I'm basically just looking for more information before I just go out and buy another Taurus.

Thanks again.

Would the Subaru Forester be too small for your needs? It is a wagon style vehicle and the rear seats fold down flat. Just a thought????

either Volvo or Subaru.

maybe Audi, if you want to spend a little more $...you can also look for VW's, but they're not as common.

Thanks for your recommendations guys. I've looked into some stats on the cars you've mentioned.

Subaru Forrester - Too small cargo area, the Subaru Legacy is a better comparison
VW - The VW Passat Wagon is actually very comparable and I will be taking a closer look.
Volvo - Do you know what model their wagon is?
Audi - Don't think I want to spend that much on a car I mainly use for hauling big things.

What about a used Dodge Magnum or a Caddy CTS sport wagon? Had you looked at the Ford Flex? It's foundation is the current generation Taurus.

I really like the Dodge Magnum. Real fun to drive. But to put the difference in cargo area in perspective, the Dodge Magnum has 27 cu ft, while the 1994-200x Taurus Wagons ranged from 37 cu ft to 39 cu ft.

The Ford Flex has only 20 cu ft. CTS has 25 Cu Ft.

The cars that look good so far are the Taurus Wagon itself (deprecated model), the Volvo V series, VW Passat Wagon, and Suburu Legacy Wagon (although this is a little smaller than the rest)

sounds like you found out for yourself -- yes, it's the V70. a lot of XC70's around, too, if you want AWD, and they also have a smaller V50, but it's harder to find.

Subaru Legacy's are plentiful and priced more in line with mainstream cars.

Don`t know about the avaliability, but you may take a look on a used Mercedes E Wagon. It has a capacity of about 43 cu ft (2003 model) with all seats in place and even more with rear seats down. I have quite good experiences with this car.
