MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Fast food giant Burger King apologized Tuesday for an advertisement featuring a squat Mexican draped in his country's flag next to a tall American cowboy and said it would change the campaign.
Mexico's ambassador to Spain said posters released in Europe for Burger King's new Tex-Mex style "Texican whopper," a cheeseburger with chile and spicy mayonnaise, inappropriately displayed the Mexican flag, whose image is protected under national law.
People are so sensitive these days...honestly if a Canadian complained & sued every time they were made fun of on an American show or commercial the whole of Canada would be rich.
But guess what? Political correctness is overrated!

All I have to say is: What a bunch of freaking whiners. First of all, the Mexican government ought to learn to recognize its own damn flag. The guy is not wearing a Mexican flag, he's actually wearing an Italian flag. Morons.
Two, this ad trades in all kinds of stereotypes. Stereotypes are a way of communicating information and providing context quickly. Sometimes they are used for humor, such as in this commercial. Sometimes stereotypes aren't offensive, sometimes they're just silly.
Which brings me to three: when did all stereotypes become equally invidious? Clearly some stereotypes are value-neutral and some are even positive. I'm so sick of the constant urge to feign outrage at every perceived slight. Nobody who isn't looking for an opportunity to be offended is going to walk away from this ad thinking "gosh, all Mexicans are short masked wrestlers" any more than they're going to walk away from it thinking, "gosh, all Texans walk around with a horse and look like they just got off the set of Brokeback Mountain."
Mexico is an economic basketcase, has shocking poverty, has horrid pollution, low educational attainment, high levels of illiteracy, and is basically run by maniacal, homicidal drug cartels that have infiltrated every level of government from the local town councils to military command. And yet they have time to wring their hands over a stupid hamburger commercial where one has to strain mightily to find an actual offense? Way to keep your eye on the ball, Mexico.
I'd love to see the Mexican consulate in Chicago issue an equally stern condemnation of its own citizens who drape their cars with Mexican flags and duct-tape them to the hood of their cars and drive all over town the entire week of Cinco de Mayo.

Yet you're offended by public breast-feeding
Oh brother.
Teenagers aren't the only ones who are hypocrites.
actually mexico and italy have basically the same flag. mexico has a symbol on theirs....but anyway--carry on
Yeah, and that symbol makes a difference between whether it's a Mexican flag or not. And it's not. So the Mexican government's complaints are a little hollow.
