We haven't turned on the heat yet and the temp at night has been below freezing, so I thought it would be a good day for Mollie Katzen's lentil stew and cottage cheese dumplings.

I am making something I have not made in decades -- swiss steak -- with mushrooms and onions and carrots. My store had a "managers special" yesterday of pounded cubed round steak and it made me think of this old 50's dish my mom used to make. It's actually a tad warm today so not the best day for it but I will serve it with salad and maybe mashed potatoes. I am going to try to exercise portion control because the slices are quite large. I have a delicious ripe papaya for dessert.
