Welcome back! I admit I am little jealous of the Peru trip.
Today I am marinating chicken wings and drumsticks in a curry, turmeric, soy sauce, onion mixture. I'll bake them up tonight. I think I will make a roasted beet salad and rice pilaf. I always make the Near East brand. I don't care if food snobs snear at my use of a box mix 'cause it tastes so darn good!
Near East started in Worcester, and the owners came to dinner at our house a few times.

I might try a Southwest Chili recipe tonight.
What a great story. I am always raving about Worcester's restaurant scene. Maybe I should just be raving about their food scene! And I do love all the Worcester love on this board lately.
Today is my 48th birthday. How the H-E-double hockey stick that happened is beyond me! Anywho I want out for an early dinner with the family. Smokestack Urban Barbecue I took photos. I always feel awkward taking them but oh well.
My dinner-fried catfish, oysters and shrimp with remoulade sauce. Fries and Cole slaw and Switchback Ale
The ten year old's catfish tacos. He had them hold the tomatoes.
Dessert was beignets with a chocolate dipping sauce. The husband had pulled pork, ribs, brisket with Mac and cheese, cucumber salad and cornbread. And the five year old had chicken, blah!
Appetizer was handmade potato chips with barbecue rub and blue cheese dipping sauce. Sorry for all the photos!
See? This is confusing to me. When *I* feel like a garden slug, I have a bowl of cereal for dinner. When *you* feel like a garden slug, you make "oven-braised lamb shanks, roasted garlic and parm potatoes, broccoli salad and a lemon meringue pie for dessert."
LOL! If you notice the menu isn't really labor intensive and my husband was begging for a home-cooked meal.
Well, I am super cranky because instead of living somewhere sunny and warm, I live in the cold and gray middle. So, it is cornbread with milk and sugar for dinner. Very basic comfort food.
I had Near East Wild Rice pilaf last night, but the only one I have to have is the Toasted Almond Pilaf. Divine.
Tonight's a class night, so probably some pretzels and homemade hummus and maybe a quesadilla.
