Not the best of days. Another friend on CD lost a classmate. Got to be hard at 15. I had the same when I was in school.
The pull pork tacos were so good. Finished off the yellow squash along with them and then raided the brownie plate. I can still reach this keyboard but not by much.
Sorry to hear that sad news Nomad - can you pass on our condolences? That must be so terrible for the family, heartbreaking... Sorry to hear you lost a friend too, at such a young age.

Did you know that you could boil hamburger meat instead of frying it and it will taste the same except less greasy. try it next time when you make hamburger helper or tacos.
Here is something that I like to make when I'm in a hurry. The side dishes like the Asian noodles that take 6 minutes to cook, throw some shrimp in it when the noodles are done so are the shrimp and dinners ready in 6 minutes. You could use can chicken or already cooked chicken.
The texture changes some I found out after boiling 10lbs of it then my family tells me they didn't like it as much. Be careful not to pour that water down a drain it will clog it up because it takes all the fat out of the hamburger. I put it out in single layer on cookie sheets too then once frozen put them in zippie freezer bags. Was very convenient.
Mr. L loved his linguine/garlic/oil/scallops. I had scallops and salad.

Lacey - please accept my sympathies on the loss of your dear friend. I send you and Mr. L heartfelt wishes for smiles and fond memories between the tears, and I hope that Doug is at peace. Talking to the universe about all of you....
I have kept my house all closed up to avoid smoke. My son looked outside and asked why it was foggy I told him that it was smoke from the fires. I got "oh...yeah?"
I'm also relieved to see you chiming in, Amber; please keep the radio or tv on, and make tracks for safer ground if things look ominous. Keep us posted, and be safe!
Didn't cook tonight, I feel like I am coming down with a sinus infection or a plain old cold. We ended up at What-a-burger, heart attack in a box! My large coke was the best thing I had!
Shepherd's pie tonight; good comfort food for a night when the flurries are swirling in the streetlights, and there's a powdering of cold white stuff on the grass and in the cracks of the driveway. Had to scrape the windshield when I came out of the office tonight, so a nice warm, solid casserole was a real treat for supper.
On wintry nights like this, thinking about news like Lacey's and Noma's, and about the fires in California, I become suddenly aware of how ephemeral and transient our lives are, and how precious every day really is. Cherish your loved ones, and live every moment you're given to the hilt, particularly those that feature food and family together. Be safe, all, stay warm and take care of yourselves.
well for dinner will be a couple margartitas followed by for lunch a few beers and a glass of wine. it's been a pretty relaxing day.
And an even better night eh, JF?
