wktully - hmmm I may try that! thanks so much. What does quick cook mean?
Dont cook it all the way done, leave it just a little "crunchy", otherwise the pasta will get all mushy. If you cook it that way the pasta will absorb some of the soup, and will be yummy, and perfectly cooked.
Hope you feel better soon Cyn--- I'm just getting over what you described. Tonight we are having bratwurst with sauteed bell peppers, onions and mushrooms on a nice hoagie bun. Fried potatoes and red cabbage on the side.
I was reading your post outloud to my hubbie and he said: "Boy, that sounds good". Maybe you could write out exactly how you make this--you know--I'm the step-by-step domestically challenged person? I'd love to give it a try. I know it sounds simple reading it but once I try preparing it I'm going to get stressed out that I'm doing something wrong. Please....
So if it says to cook it for 6-7 mins I should only cook it for 4?
cook it to 4 minutes, fish a piece out, and bite it. If it is soft on the outside, and a bit hard on the inside, then it is done. Rinse it with cold water to stop the cooking, then drain. Its ready to use! BTW, this technique is called parboiling, just in case you run into it in a recipe.
And cooking your pasta to this point kshe mentioned is called " al dente" if you ever come across that word you will understand what they mean. It is a preferred way of cooking pasta. Not over-cooking it!
movingtohouston - no rice in the house unfortunately - tks anyway though - I'll make that another time! tks

Sorry, should have been more clear - quick cook means only cook it for half the time you normally would. Otherwise it will be mush by the time it comes out of the oven.
I did, thank you! Happy eating everyone, good luck nic.
