PRINCETON, NJ -- Nearly half of Americans, 48%, report drinking at least one glass of soda per day, while 52% say they normally drink no soda. Among those who drink any soda, the average daily amount is 2.6 glasses, with 28% drinking one glass a day, on average, and 20% drinking two or more glasses.
Well I'm not exactly shocked. I know people who would practically shrivel up and die if they could'nt have their fix. On the other hand, I'm hardly the one to be throwing stones, since I drink a pretty fair amount of tea daily.
I drink a Mexican Coke everyday and I live in Princeton, NJ. I do not drink coffee. While the study is rough, there seems to be little or no correlation between weight and drinking soda.
The average 12oz can of soda contains 39grams of sugar thats 7 teaspoons per can. If you drink 4 or 5 per day, then you are a future self inflicted Diabetes sufferer

my thoughts as well: some of these postings are a bit off the wall and can't be taken too seriously, but I am not, at all, surprised to learn 50% of the population drink soda..I am one of the 50% that never touches it, hubby has one for lunch everyday. Our granddaughter drinks Dr Pepper for breakfast and never touches coffee, her sister drinks coke daily (all diet I will add) This is no different than, like you say, drinking tea daily or coffee for that matter...even too much water. The oncologist memtioned to my husband yesterday, too much water, after 6pm can interfer with sleep...Plus the body does need to be kept hydrated, especially this time of the year, but we are overdoing the water. I think we can all admit, we overdo something, each of us.

did you read the article? There seems to be no reference, unless I missed it to whether they drink sugar free or reg soda. Most people I know drink low cal or sugar free and most people, even if they drink soda daily do not drink 4 or 5. That would be like saying, people who drink beer or wine daily will all become alcoholics cause the drink 4 or 5 a day.
