I'm from New Haven, where we compete with New York City with our claims of "best neopolitan pizza in the USA." So in general, I don't "do" chain pizza.
However, I really LOVE Pizzeria Uno's "spinoccoli" deep-dish pizza. I used to get it once a week when I lived and worked in Boston; they had a Lunch Hour Rush special - one mini (around 2/3 of their personal pan sized) of the day, plus a cup of their soup of the day, for only $5.95, served within 10 minutes of being seated, guaranteed.
I usually got it with a no-alcohol pina colada (because I still had to go back to work after lunch so no alcohol) for another $2.50. Man - that brings back great memories.
There's one in Milford here in Connecticut but I don't have any other reason to go to that side of I-95, and it's a hellish drive, so it isn't worth the trip. Even if their spinoccoli pizza is awesome.
Neither New Haven or New York City have anything over anywhere else when it comes to pizza.
I remember when there was a running debate over who has the best pizza, California or NY - and NY won. It was thought that the minerals in the water changed the crust into such heaven. There were people who actually flew NY water over to the other side of the country to make the perfect pizza.
I like the one off Mom And Pop places but if its got to be a chain Domino's aint bad.
Either Dominoes has really improved their pizza or the pizza is different based on location. In Miami, Dominoes was akin to dog food. Here in Montana, the local Dominoes is almost gourmet. I was surprised at how good it was. And very reasonable with online coupons.
