I decided to start having smoothies for breakfast, using berries, lowfat lite vanilla yogurt and ice, adding a smidge of lite lemonade.
I dragged out my monster blender, Cuisinart, high power (supposed to crush ice). It kept 'freezing up', that is, not swirling the contents.
So I don't know if I didn't have enough liquid in there or the blender is just old and ineffective. It's definitely supposed to be powerful enough to crush ice (and I used crushed ice chips, not full cubes). I know it worked in the past to make frozen daiquiris.
So I need to get a new appliance to make smoothies. What works? I would prefer an immersion type blender instead of a traditional blender. Will an immersion blender chop ice? Do I need a "smoothie machine"? Brands what work?
Magic Bullet is really powerful and works for me! The Magic Bullet Blender - Official Website
you can get is pretty much everywhere, check for sales. WalMart, Target has it for about ~$50 and is worth every penny.
I just use a hand held blender and it works really well, the blade are excellent. The brand I have is Braun.
Thanks all.
Moosketeer (cute name!) is it a Braun immersion blender? Like the kind you put down into a pot of tomatoes to make puree in the pot itself? I have one of these but can only find the attachments...I have searched high and low for the handle I know it's here somewhere but I am going to give in a just get a new something to make the smoothies.
