I would say northwest Florida, you have many areas that have everything that you are looking for. I posted the following in another thread but fits this one.

Pensacola, Navarre, Fort Walton beach, and Destin;

Most of the families plan activities that are centered with the family in mind. This is a concept that is not the norm today in many areas. Many like to go boating, fishing, horse back riding, racing track, canoeing, camping, , golf (The Moors or the Destin) and other outdoors activities. Others like to go to Destin and enjoy some of the small to mid-size amusement areas or Big Kahunas (water rides), mini golf, children racing tracks, or as always shopping at the Commons. Other will drive to Biloxi and hit the casinos, or visit the Gulf Breeze Zoo, Okaloosa Aquarium or one of the National Parks in the area. Don't forget the Navy and USAF Armament Museums that are free. Pensacola does have facilities for concerts, and the civic center has different programs on-going year around to include concerts, ice hockey, etc...

Some of us just like to go and walk on the beach or read a book to relax from a busy workday. Many are involve in youth activities and are coaches, other we work with youth groups at churches and help develop positive values and we plan trips around the southeast region. Don’t forget the concerts or presentation at PJC or OWCC (colleges).

If you want to go to sport bar we got many, excellent places to eat from Russ Chris Restaurant to the local cuisine. You can choose from the steak houses, seafood, Japanese, Greek, Italian, Mexican, etc…

Maybe the best entertainment is at the Okaloosa Island or Pensacola Beach and other areas that are always hosting some type of festival. We don’t need the large parks to have a superb time, our families and friends are the number one priority and the small community stays together …..

Try the liberal Miami and see the chaos it is in. How about Bradenton, where gangs literaly rule the streets? Hopw about the liberal-moderate Orlando, where people sell crack on Church Street Station downtown with absolute no fear, thanks to our "lovey-dovey mayor" Buddy Dyer? Orlando's mayor is so incompetent, he telkls his cops NOT to ask crack dealers or rapists about their immigration status, so these guys bond out and head right back out to sell drugs.

We had this one investigation on a local chanell talking about how thios illegal alien robbed a 7-11, got arrested, bonded out (although he was here illegally)m robbed 2 more convenience stores, got stopped bgy cops, gave them a wrong name (no way for the cops to check him out), got released, and finally got picked up by Immigration and the whole thing blew wide open. Now how much more incomptente can Mayor Dyer really be?

The reason the small towns in FL are still nice is because of the people. Once the liberals from NY, NJ, and CT move down, they will be ruined like Orlando, Miami, Ft. Myers, Bradenton, and more recently... Orlando. It is NOT the city that is nice... it has to have the quality Florida native people to make it Good-paying jobs in MIami will be limited and far few and in between.truly nice.

How do you explain the fact that all the liberal areas have flourished? Look at NYC, California, Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Boca etc. As towns grow into cities they become more and liberal. Thankfully, there is little you can do about it.

That being said, all politicians should be unseated and forced to eat from the city dump for at least 10 years.

Yet the standard of living of the residents have been in a downward spiral. I have a feeling that cities like NYC will come back to earth when large corporations cut back their presence there to reduce expenses. Seems like Citicorp is already doing it. Expensive cities are not worth doing business in. "Liberal" cities usually mean communist it seems. I want a Libertarian city!

Ah yes, because it's better to be ruled by private interests and over-bloated bureacratic machines (insurance companies, HMOs, large business, etc.) that owe no loyalty to you than ruled by overbloated governmental bureacracies that you have a democratic SAY over the composition and operation of!!

There is nothing "communist" about any large, flourishing city in America. Unless "communist" means adequately funding schools, infrastructure, and health services for ALL people, and not relying on beggars scraps thrown down from the richest 1%.

Ocala has a nice small town feeling, but I haven't visited enough of central and northern Florida to comment. You might want to read some posts in the thread regarding "Boca or Wellington"...........Wellington gets rave reviews from me!

Remember, those rich companies exist because of government regulation, it stifles competition. Anytime you have a problem with monopolies, crooked business or lawsuits, it's the government that makes it possible. As for schools and infrastructure, have you taken a look at what we have now? The quality has been steadily decreasing. We have no say about beaurocracy, the big money controls government PERIOD!

I live in Debary, its pretty small. We have one grocery store...its close enough to I'4 to be convenient yet you can't hear the traffic on it.

The only thing I don't like is we are between Orlando and Daytona...during race week and bike week, things can get a little out of control on the highways...that is my only complaint.
I just found out that in Florida, motorcycle riders aren't required to carry insurance...NICE.
