I moved to Jacksonville for a job offer in November of 2013. The offer was originally on the table about 3.5 years earlier back in 2010, but I decided to move out to Southern California from Jersey (Where I'm from and had been living for most of my life) for a few years with some friends instead. It's too expensive out there though. Could never afford a house, unless I hit it big. Mostly went out there for the surfing. Because I surf, living in a non-coastal area is a dealbreaker and that includes the Gulf Coast. Has to be near an ocean. South Florida is a deal breaker too though, just because of the lack of surf, due to the Bahamas block. So Jacksonville was acceptable enough for me!

Only other place I'd move to is probably Oahu.

New York?

Moved from Philly 4 years ago. Came to be close to Hubby's mom. She is still kickin', doing great and is still independent at the young age of 85.

We finally built a house and I don't plan on every moving again. I loved living in Philly but really I have never liked winter... anywhere. I am really looking forward to the summer this year since we finally have our own pool.

We did get in it twice since moving in but had to heat it in order to do so. We have had a cold spell and there is no way we are paying to heat the thing. So I will wait sorta patiently until the temps rise again.

Nice to see a new thread from you, Cindy!!

I moved to Miami Beach because my significant other was from the area and I have family in near by Broward and Palm Beach counties. Miami Beach is a great place to live if you are rich and single, not the best place to raise a family but they have a lot of nice communities for families here like Kendall and Weston. I enjoy it here despite some of its faults, I try to be happy wherever I am and have a positive attitude.

I moved to get away from the cold and snow. I moved here about 8 and a half years ago and my only regret is that I didn't move here sooner.

Moved from a suburb of Philadelphia in 1981 at the age of 19 to go to school. I picked Florida since my parents were going to retire there.

I retired a few months ago and the wife and I now travel around in our RV. We left Florida just last week.

Florida was a good ride for the 30+ years (longer for my wife) but the heat is just too much. We will settle eventually somewhere where it is cooler longer than Florida.

I moved here for school. Met my now-wife in college, got kids, and have been here permanently since. Would I relocate elsewhere? Sure. I'm a huge fan of the DC area, mainly places like Bowie, Upper Marlboro, North VA... But for now, I'm here and making the most of it. The weather is nice, I've had no issues with the job market, there is plenty to do with the family...

So, where did you move from and why? What did you love and/or hate about your old state (or country)
What do you love and/or hate about Florida? Any good or bad experiences you care to share would be wonderful.
We moved to FL from NYC in 1988. We wanted a better quality of life. We just had enough of the hassles of living in NYC.

Never once regretted the decision.

Hmmm, mention of 105-110 summer temps leads me to believe you lived in the southwest at one point?
