I spend labor day weekend in DB with a "party" crew...I can confirm the bar Ocean Deck was the best overall bar, we also like Mia Tai's and Tailgaters, all are different all on levels...

I just wanted to offer you a new way of thinking. It would appear that the job market in DB isn't great...My advice would be to take a vacation down to the area. Do some research beforehand and check out some major nearby cities...Jacksonville and Orlando are somewhat close. I'd personally look in Tampa and Miami as it's a major job market. I'm simply going off the job markets in those locations...If it comes down to guys finding a job $50K/year in DB but a better job in Orlando for $75K/year, you need to start asking yourself, how many times a year a Nascar race? Is taking a $25K/year pay cut worth being in DB on a Tuesday? It comes down to what's important to you

Absloutely, Jagman!

But my advice, if you really want to be in the Daytona area, would be to stay put in Vermont until the economy improves in Florida. Things are not looking good here. Even the double-dipping, retiree snowbirds are running scared.

And I wouldn't live in Orlando if you paid me. I grew up in the Ormond-Daytona area, lived in Burlington for awhile. I think, being from Vermont, you'd hate Orlando. Daytona, Ormond or Flagler would be more suited to you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi.. My husband and I have decided to move to Daytona beach,Fl. We have 2 little girls who will be attending elementary school. I am not sure which areas of Daytona are safe or family oriented. We are looking for reasonable rent as well. Is there any suggestions on where should we be looking. Also how is the job market there these days.I personally work in Retail/CSR but my husband is in the carpet installation business. Any information on anything would help. Thanks
