Hello! I am looking for the best place to move in Florida. I am 18, but by the time I move out of my parents house I will be almost 21. I'm moving out from Denver in order to pursue a degree in Special Education and pursue golf! I am working very hard at the latter and I want to one day play in the LPGA tour. But I am pursuing my degree as well so I have options in case something happens. Anyways, where do you recommend the best locations to move to Florida? I am looking for affordable housing and places where jobs are available, and also some night life. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am also looking to get away from the cold climate of Colorado. I'm open to any suggestions.! Thank you so much.

It's a little hard to say where jobs will be available three years from now - that can be a long time in an economy. But to clarify, when you say "where jobs are available" do you mean specifically special education jobs or just jobs generally? I think everyone on the forum will suggest that you try your best to get a job before you come here. If you are able to do that then where you get the job will dictate where you move specifically. I think this is especially tf you will be targeting special education jobs. I am assuming that they would become available in general at the beginning of a school year and I would imagine there would not be dozens of openings in any particular city. But cities in general would be your best bet. I don't kno much about the golf scene but I believe there is reasonable access to golf pretty much anywhere in the state. Of course the higher the percentage of golf courses, the higher the percentage of retirees, generally, which would probably equate to fewer special education jobs in that particualr area. I would think the major metropolitan areas would be your best bet, particualrly if nightlife is important to you. I would suggest Orlando as the best combination of affordability, nightlife, jobs and golf.

Jacksonville would be you best bet for affordability and jobs (least expensive metro area in Florida w/ the lowest unemployment rate of the major cities), has a decent amount of nightlife and some great golf options nearby including World Golf Village which houses the World Golf Hall of Fame and two very highly rated courses.

Visit Jacksonville - Welcome to Jacksonville

St Petersbug has colleges and golf courses, beaches aplenty and nightlife, It might be a good place to make your initial stay in Florida, If you find a better place after living there for a while you can always move..

I actually suggest the best fit for individual circumstances (in my opinion) versus the "homers" who push their home cities as a one size fits all for everyone... Just sayin'...

Golf?

SE Florida has the most golf courses I believe.

And you have to be located in an area to be able to get sponsors etc.

Get your degree and work on the golf as a sideline.

How about Myrtle Beach? 125 golf courses in one area.

Only problem is that it is in South Carolina and the OP is moving to Florida.
