My husband, children & I are highly considering moving from Ca. to Fl. but we are not sure what city would be best for our comfort & children's safety. Could any one give us any suggested cities in Fl. to move to that has a great safety area (less or no crime, good for raising children) Has the less humidity? (we are outdoor people), cheap housing expense? & less chances of being in a flood or hurricane? oh & neighborhoods of friendly people helps to

Check out the Jacksonville metro area, specifically St John's County and Nassau County. Both are low crime areas, have desirable housing at lower costs than similar areas in Florida, the lowest hurricane risk in the state, are near the coast and nice beaches, and both are among the top school districts in the state (St John's is top-ranked, Nassau is #10, out of 67 school districts). Specifically check out the Ponte Vedra, Julington Creek, Nocatee and World Golf Village areas of St John's or Fernandina Beach and Yulee in Nassau County.

Palm Coast! As outdoor people you'll appreciate our 100+ miles of bike trails. There are plenty of parks and preserves around here. Our school system is ranked 11th in the state. Housing is still reasonable. We're a little south of Jacksonville and St Augustine and also have a lower hurricane risk than many areas. But if you move to FL, you will have to compromise on that low humidity requirement!! Also, there's always the issue of jobs. What kind of work are you looking for?

Its hot and humid everywhere in Fla.
Cheap housing usually attracts a low income demographic.
Hurricanes and floods cant be predicted.
Ocala/Gainseville area might be worth a look but ultimately it may come down where you can find employment.
If you do get interested in a particular city City Datas own data bank is a huge resource for info concerning that city.

CRIME: We are a state of 20 million people with millions of tourists. Crime exists everywhere
HUMIDITY: If you don't like Humidity I suggest you stay in Cali. This is the South. However AC mitigates that problem but your wallet won't like how much you have to pay for it.
CHEAP HOUSING? : What is cheap to you? Mobile homes are cheap. a 3/2 in a decent neighborhood starts at over $1000 a month for rent.
FLOODS or HURRICANES: Is this a serious Question?
NEIGHBORHOODS WITH FRIENDLY PEOPLE? : Let me direct you to the liasons of that! George Zimmermann and Casey Anthony.
