Hi, I am living in the Portland, Oregon area right now, but I was thinking about having a living arrangement that would allow me to live in Oregon for 7-8 months during Summer and Spring and living in FLorida over the colder northern months of the Winter.

I am a software developer and I have a home-business that allows me to live anywhere that I have high-speed internet access. With respect to this, I am thinking I may be able to pull this off, if my finances allow.

What I like to know is if anyone knows the best way to go about pursuing this arrangement or if anyone else does this. I guess, in essence, I would be a true snow-bird, except I am 32 (not an old retired person) and I would be needing a temporary rental, not a winter vacation home that I own.

I am wondering what places around Florida are the best to find decent temporary rentals that would be available over the Winter time. Does anyone know about time share rental options? I am thinking about getting a place in Oregon for around $850 a month that would probably sit vacant during the long cold and wet months of Winter. I was thinking maybe I could find a decent temporary rental in Florida somewhere for $800 a month or so. I'm not sure if it is possible, but I am interested.

I am flexible about where I can live, but I would like to be somewhere warm, so I think I would avoid the Panhandle. The Florida Keys even sound nice, but I don't know if there are any temporary rentals available there during the Winter.

Anyway, I am just doing some investigation, but I would be interested to hear other people's ideas and input.

Thanks.

In general, I think your budget is too low for a seasonal rental.

There are tons of seasonal rentals and a good many of them are furnished. Seasonal rents are usually much higher than an annual rental.

At you age I would look in Tampa or Miami.

In Palm Beach County a seasonal rental could be 2500 that was 1000 a month off. Hotels, rental cars, etc also the price goes up. The keys I thought were so expensive. To be honest this does not sound realistic at your age with your funds. Maybe you should think of moving locations where it would overall meet what you are looking for

If you look a bit inland you can find what you are looking for at that price. Remember, winter is our tourist season, so rentals are at a premium. I don't think you can get anything in the Keys for that price, unless you can find someone you can share a place with. Everyone wants exactly what you are looking for - paradise in Florida on the cheap.
