Hello, first time posting but have been lurking for a while. So here's my question. I live outside the US but I'm an American citizen. I lost my husband recently and wish to start a new life. Long story short, my credit was tied to my husbands so I pretty much haxd none but what little I have is now bad. I want to move to Florida (or anywhere else really,) but my sister who lives there says my credit will be checked if renting. I talked to a credit conseling agent and he says that it won't. Who to believe?

I simply cannot stay here. Won't go into details right now, only that I can't stand it. So if anybody can shed some light into this, it'll be much appreciated. Thanks.

You will need at least first month and a security deposit, Not all landlords check, especially the smaller ones with only a few units, if they tell you there will be a check then go elsewhere. Mostly they do an eviction check, but they will want to know where you are employed, they don't want to get stuck having to evict you for not paying rent.

Thank you , it's good to finally have an answer. My sister went as far as discrediting the credit counselor by saying he was feeding me bs. Guess I know what this means, sadly. Again appreciate your answer.
