I'm with you. I've never waxed or shaved, just trimmed a bit when required .And the idea of being completely bare, like a prepubecent girl, is a bit disturbing to me. Hopefully this generations daughters will rebel and just stay natural. This fad/trend isn't a good one.

Do you ladies keep hair in your armpits? Are you "natural" there?
I think you're over analyzing the bikini wax. Having a bare cooch hardly makes one look like a child.

Lots of ladies do keep the pit hair, especially in Europe.
The point is that the "bare cooch" look is a recent trend and DOES make you look like you haven't gone thru puberty. I think that is the appeal for certain folk. And it's big in the porn industry, which I don't particularly want to emulate. This is one case where, for me, natural is much better looking.
If something you do in the name of beauty is painful it should make you stop and think.

Yes, I'm aware that pit hair is common in Europe, but here in the states, it's pretty common to follow the "trend" of shaving/waxing our pit hair. My question was directed at you...are you "natural" there? Or do you follow the American "trend" of keeping your armpits bare?

Most women do not look prepubescent just because they're hairless. (That's not to say that some women don't.) I don't know about you, but I have curves that I didn't have when I was 10.
Would you say that a bodybuilder looks prepubescent because he shaves/waxes off all his body hair? Many men remove the hair from their chest, but yet I hardly consider them to look like children.

The "appeal" has a lot to do with the garments we wear nowadays (bathing suits to undergarments), for aesthetics (some people don't like hair, whether it's on a man's chest, arms, etc. or a chick's cooch) and sometimes it's for function. It's not so we can emulate the porn industry.
Once the aesthetician is waxing things down there, what's the point of her keeping a patch of hair!?!? You truly believe that a patch of hair is what makes a woman look like a grown woman???

Oh please...so you're telling me you've never worn heels? Plucked/waxed your brows? Had your nails done? Worn a strapless bra? Ever hear the phrase "Beauty knows no pain."

You don't have to remove all of the hair with a bikini wax, and many women just neaten things up as opposed to going hairless. I wear pretty teeny bikinis, so not removing some hair means that it would show, trim or no trim.
I don't like the bare hairless look either, but it's also an issue of comfort to me. I still don't see it as any different from removing armpit or leg hair, which adult women have also, as TheImportersWife brought out.
Well Ive never had a wax down there. But when i get my eyebrows waxed i feel so gooooood afterwards. Also i like to go bare down there and i personally feel more comfortable and desirable when i shave. One last thing my hubby likes me better bare (not that he would mind if i chose to do other wise) and i personally do not think he is a perv lol.
It's so worth it to get it done. Especially if your going on vacation or go to the pool alot. The pain is not that bad just take a tylenol before you go and it will help take the edge off.
I have tried it as a "DoItYourself" job with some Sally Hansen stuff from Wally World. First think didn't like was having to wait like 3 weeks w/o shaving or anything 'cause you gotta let stuff grow a bit before the wax can get a hold.
I found the pain enough to bring tears to my eyes. Granted I probably didn't do it the right way because it did not work like I saw on TV shows. It was not a matter of apply rip and I was done, it was apply rip, re-apply rip again, and every time it hurt, sometimes more than others. Yes there was blood involved too, I do not know if that is to be expected or if that is normal, but I know it happened to me. I think the afterward pain was quite unpleasant, I was kinda red and a little puffy swollen for a couple days, oh yea, and SORE.
Granted, I liked how it felt after the pain, swelling and redness went away. However I found that it started growing back a little sooner than I expected, and I didn't feel like going through that experience again so soon, so I just went back to shaving.
As far as the philosophical reasons for this... I dunno, I just figure if I am going to shave my legs and under my arms, I might as well do that too. It is not some weird desire to be prepubescent or something, I just like and feel more comfortable with things being that way.
