Apparently boots aren't as secure as casts. A removable boot wouldn't immobilize my knee either. I was given the option of having surgery and avoiding the above knee cast but decided against it.
In that case, I'd go with black if it's available, or some other conservative color. I have seen cast covers online in different colors - they looked like stretch stockings and you can just pull them over it. That could allow you to get a pink cast and keep it covered at work or maybe just keep the cast cleaner.
Since you are young & relatively new at the firm, black would be best. You need be considered serious in a serious industry. You are still being evaluated by senior staff.
If you were part of senior staff, any color you chose would be fine.
I think I had a blue cast for my leg when I fractured my ankle, then red. For my wrist a few years later I think I got green.
Conservative, family-owned software company, but I am male (i.e., not so concerned about what others think of me) and I had been there for several years by the time of my two mishaps.
I don't think cast color is even considered on a professionalism scale. You're going to spend weeks trapped in a piece of plaster ... no one is going to care what color it is.
I'm thinking a dark grey pinstripe. I'm especially fond of plaid but if you're in a more formal office situation that might clash some. As long as you don't wear brown, grey will go with anything. Plus it won't be too hot if you live in a sunny warm climate, like black would be. Otherwise, I'd stick with white, and just remember to windex the outer surface every couple of days.
I finally decided on black. I hadn't thought about pink or other colors showing dirt more. Hopefully, it won't be too hot.
Thankfully, I live in Florida, so I won't freeze to death not being able to wear pants.
