Sally Beauty Supply just started carrying a line of Gel products. I have been wanting to try them out but I just haven't found the time or money to buy everything and do them.
Have you considered gel polish? It's a lot easier to do if you aren't trained in how to apply and do fill-ins for tips and gel nails. You can do a lot of damage to your nail beds if you aren't properly trained.
It's the same basic concept as gel nails, only you don't have to file or drill and there is no fill-ins. You don't have to glue tips to your own nails either, unless you want to. However, I've found that the polish is strong enough to allow my natural nails to grow without breaking.
It's a thicker gel polish that is set with UV lights. When it comes time to remove/change the polish you soak it off with acetone and then reapply.
If you google Shellac or gel polish you can get a lot of info on it.
Yes, Sally Beauty Supply has a very good performance brand of gel polish. The brand name is Gelish. I do recommend that you educate yourself a bit before dropping the $ on the whole system. Obviously it will take time & practice to become great at it & in the long run you same $ vs. paying a professional frequently. BUT it is a tedious process. YouTube has some really good tutorials.
I would do more research into the harm that exposing your hands to the UV light can cause.
There are also LED lights out now that can be used instead of UV lights. I honestly don't know if there are possible harmful effects from LED as well. But it is an option
