What I'm curious about is why you thought it was abnormal? Did you actually not realize women grew hair, or did you just have an aversion to it?
I'm just curious.
I didn't think women grew as much hair as I did? My mom's hairless, my female cousins, grandma, all hairless. My friends shaved like every 3 days so I never saw women with hair like that. Plus everyone in school (boys mostly) would comment on the few females who did have hair so when I saw my own hair coming in I just felt...odd. The only people I knew who had hair (other that pubic) was men.
Do you think we'll reach the point when this will be mainstream and what would your opinion of it be?
It has nothing to do with mainstream.
If women keep telling men too... Men will do it! Whatever it takes to land one or some. Depending on what he's looking for, is what he will do.
If a woman tells a man she likes a man to wear pink. He will wear pink. If a woman tells a man she likes men to get manicures and pedicures. He will get manicures and pedicures.
So if the majority of women start telling men to shave all over... the majority of men will shave.
I don't think it will catch on. Maybe it will with the guys who already spend an hour doing their hair, but not with the average guy that spends 20 minutes max with their daily shower/dress routine. I haven't even met a "metrosexual" yet. I live in Seattle now, though, where the men are men and the women are men, so it is not a surprise.
I hope shaving it all doesn't catch on for guys. Chest hair is soooooo awesome!!

simple is that. 1+1 = 2.
Yes, if the majority of women start wanting to sleep with men who have little body hair, shaving all over will become VERY popular for men. I don't need a man to shave all over, but back hair is a turn off for me, and I definitely prefer some simple trimming if body hair is thick. It's just grooming, which has always changed over time, no need for people to freak and think men are all turning into women. Real men groom if they want to get the maximum amount of sex they can.
I actually think we will see this becoming more popular. I mean it's already growing (still slowly) now, with shaving/waxing/hair-removal of not just facial hair and chests but legs, armpits etc. If women began doing this at the turn of last century, I think men will take this up pretty soon and in the process become more 'sexualised' as women have been. I'm not saying it's good or bad, but it will be equal. Do you think we'll reach the point when this will be mainstream and what would your opinion of it be? Women are born with hair on their legs and hairy pits so don't start with all that 'but it's not natural blah blah' stuff lol.
You're absolutely onto something here. It's a drifting process and it's already well underway. It's also happened with women, as has been mentioned. 20 years ago they weren't expected like they are today to make their public regions to look like that of a pre-pubescent child. Like one poster mentioned, just look at pornography from a couple decades ago as evidence.
An interesting thing to think about is that if you were able to go back in time far enough, I think you would run into a societal mindset that mostly couldn't even conceive of what you are proposing here and now. It's sort of an "overton window" type of thing, which is an interesting phenomenon.
I like the way you think. Your thinking on this subject reminds me of something I thought of a while back that is a bit more out there, and can be found here:

And that is the crux of the matter! simple and plain.
Do you think men will start shaving all over like women?
Not this one.
