Not that we go around showing people or telling random strangers.
We have pubes, its normal. I don't understand the aversion to it. Hygiene and pubic hair are not mutually exclusive.
Yes, even if you're open-minded it's hard to undo the conditioning. I'll give two examples. In Asia I saw a young lady who didn't shave her legs - and they were pretty hairy. Recently, at a Chinese restaurant the Asian lady owner (no racial bias here just telling it as it is) did not shave her armpits (she was wearing a singlet). In both instances it was very hard for me to counteract by natural 'gross' response, even though I feel there's nothing wrong with deciding not to conform to society's expectations.
A lot of men of all ages and backgrounds shave everything in Australia.
Maybe it's to do with the heat, or the fact we live active lifestyles (shaving is very common for footballers and cyclists). It is certainly not looked on as gay...in fact I have told my last couple of lovers it's way past time for a short back and sides "down there". They are older men and a bit slow to catch on.
I think women mostly started this because men wanted it.
Men rarely do things as a result of what women want (they usually have no idea what we want, even when we tell them point blank).
If men are shaving their chests, they have their own reasons for it and it will or won't become a trend based entirely on their secret man-code. Same reason some of them wear pants with the waistlines down to their knees, and 40-pound solid fake gold pendants dangling from equally fake chains around their necks.
That would be one reason to shave their chests though - so they don't get tangled in their fake gold chains and hurt.
Not this little black duck. I am old as hell and remember clearly looking at my mothers leg hairs trapped under her suntan leggs and thinking "gross"...I wouldn't have even been at school.
I haven't had pubic hair for years either, until a bf BEGGED for a "landing strip". You just feel nicer without.

Well, I do shave the pits and legs and would share the "gross" reaction to that, even though I agree with you that there's nothing inherently wrong with that choice.
I guess since my husband and I only ever see our own and each others pubic areas, why should anyone else be concerned with what we do with the hair? Its not like we go flashing our stuff at everyone!
Obviously if I'm wearing a bathing suit I trim where I need to to keep it neat, but even then a full shave isn't necessary.

It's good to have a choice! I feel "weird" without it. I shaved it all off for a while in college, then went to a landing strip, then let it all grow back. For some reason I just prefer it this way.
I don't care what anyone does, but I think this "pressure" in society to remove it, especially since nobody really sees it except your partner, is kinda silly, at least the pubic hair.
As far as the rest of the body, I can somewhat understand, especially if a guy is a bodybuilder and is cut, that he wants to show off the muscles, but even then I personally prefer the Tom Selleck look.
I'm sure many younger kids would be rather shocked at the amount of 'hair down there' in the porn videos from the early 90s and before.
lol I checked those out before out of curiosity. It's interesting because back in the day, it wasn't even considered a "fetish" but just normal. They actually label it "hairy" or something now.

Even when I was in high school, it was for the most part "normal" for both the guys and the girls to have pubic hair from the limited conversations I had or witnessed about it. I graduated HS in '95. It seems the shaving really caught on when I was in college.

In middle school and high school, I thought I was weird for having hair and being a female so I use to shave, nair, wax, laser, everything a lot. Didn't think it was normal at all.

I knew of a few girls who did.
What I'm curious about is why you thought it was abnormal? Did you actually not realize women grew hair, or did you just have an aversion to it?
I'm just curious.
