Inferior is a little mean, don't you think ?
In France, English language music is very popular, yes, nothing new in that, but French music is popular too.
I don't know for the other countries, sorry.

yes and no.

I like a lot of UK music but I think Erik Satie is better than the Spice Girls though.

Talking about more contemporary music, here in South America almost nothing besides UK is known.

So it is theorically possible that I was unfair, but it's hard to believe that another country have a team like Adele, U2, Queen, George Michael, Rick Astley, Eric Clapton, Joe Coker, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Amy winehouse and so on...

Not to mention Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Rolling Stones.

I'm working in S. America and I've been shocked just how much English and American music is played at the grocery store, mall, bars. I like some of that French music even though not sure what they're saying, it has a different sound and beat.

That's right, we don't have bands like that and our finest singers like Jacques Brell (from Belgium) or Serge Gainsbourg can't be fully enjoyed without a good understanding of the lyrics.

The UK/US as no rivals in current music but french singers are popular here and I think it's good. When I was in Germarny, the music I listened to on the radio was maybe only 5% german, I wish I had discoverd more german bands there who don't sing in english !

Each country have its tastes. In France the youth like English language music and also French music. The older people are the same. Me for example, I listen to everything, Korean, English, American, Japanese, French, Romanian, German songs. I don't like English music more than the others. It's all. Like I said earlier, I don't know for the rest.

But please, don't always suppose that everyone in the whole world love English music, some may, other not.

depends who, nowadays the average citizen would listen mostly to American and French music. I personally love British rock bands from the 60s/70s and also some recent British bands like Radiohead, Porcupine Tree etc, and I don't like French music in general.

PS: oh yeah I'm French btw
