Just about anyone who knows a thing or two about Russia will know that Moscow and St. Petersburg are by far and away the most important Russian cities.
My question is, which Russian city can legitimately be considered the "third city" - in terms of importance to the country as a whole? Please let me know what you think. Thanks.
I say Novogorod. Be sure to check out the Saint Sophia Chatedral.
Yeah, but it's still the third biggest city in Russia - isn't it?
( Another thing - I think Russians ( real Russians, not mutts like me ) actually like winters; I've noticed the difference even in my own family))))
I love winters in Russia! I'd never experienced a real winter, having lived only on the West Coast, USA. One of the fun things about winter in Russia is wearing fur. Also, depending on the part of the country, winters can be gloriously sunny! Cold, but bright and sunny. The difficult part is if you're in an area that gets below -25 or -30 Celcius. It's hard to force yourself to go outside, and it's hard to breathe. I don't know how people manage to go to work every day in those conditions, in the far north.
