Not really. If VA is decided by 8pm, the election will be over if Obama wins. If McCain takes VA, it will probably go until Ohio is decided. If McCain takes both of those, I suspect it will be weeks before we know the outcome.
If Obama wins any of the battleground states whether it be Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Colorado, ect. it puts Obama in the White House thanks to Obama's commanding lead in three 2004 Bush states (Iowa, New Mexico and New Hampshire). All Obama has to do is win one of them and Obama is ahead in the polls or tied in most of them. But you are correct if Virginia goes to Obama, then we'll know he won the election early on in the night.
