Read your own posts. In post #8 you say that the article blames free trade, and in post 11 you say that the article blames protectionism against free trade. I don't mean to insult you, but you posted two polar-opposite statements within 3 posts of each other. To say that you are confused is not an insult; it's a fact.
To be fair to Waldo, post #8 had the "rolleye" emoticon at the end, signifying his sarcasm.
Having said that, how does one promote free trade by proposing to impose a 35% tariff against Chinese and Mexican products? Because they are not being fair? Probably, but imposing unilateral tariff would just start a trade war, and seriously compromise our moral high ground and authority in international trade.

No it wouldn't. Every other nation on the planet has tariffs.
IF Donny really cared about American jobs he never would have been selling clothes made in China under his name, it's just a little too convenient that he allegedly cares now that he's entered the campaign.
That's what I don't get. How can he rail against other companies do exactly what he did?
Again - he produced those clothes as a businessman as he's said - you can not compete with Chinese costs under the current laws. As someone running for office - he wants to see those jobs stay in the US and enact new provisions to bring the other companies back to the US by making it more beneficial for them to again produce the items in the USA. Am I the only dem that has gone to school and learned to actually think?

Of course, every nation has some types of tariffs. That's not the point.
It's a 35% tariff on top of already existing tariffs. There's NAFTA in relation to Mexico, and I presume there is some sort of trade pact between the US and China. Therefore, the US cannot unilaterally impose tariffs in violation of existing trade pacts, and if we do, we should fully expect retaliatory trade actions.
If a country could willy nilly impose a tariff at any level and whenever, why do you think there are WTO and other international trade organizations that preside over trade disputes between nations?

You're not thinking it through on this one. If Trump wasn't a hypocrite he'd be protesting his own brand and vowing to never wear those clothes made in China. Just like he's doing with Oreo.

Why is he complaining about Oreos going to Mexico and not Boeing going to China? US security interests are made far more precarious by more and more aircraft manufacturing and maintenance going to China than by Oreo cookies going to Mexico.
A major factor in the move is federal sugar price controls that have been imposed by the federal government at the behest of the Florida sugar industry. US sugar prices are much higher than in the rest of the world.
And he may well take on Boeing - MG folks - first you're complaining he isn't saying enough and then you're complaining that he isn't saying the right thing. If you don't support him - then don't - no skin of my back or his. I am not a Trump supporter but neither do I support any of the Democratic candidates we can choose from at this point. At least the guy is telling it like it is and not sugar coating it like the rest of them are.
