Democrats want efficient government, the size of it isn't the issue. Besides the Democrats are the ones touting small government claims while doing the opposite. Also, what have the Tea Party do to shrink the government besides lower the country's credit rating?

Would this be why they refused to audit the Fed? Is it why they fight against any and all cuts when they could be absorbed by simply being more efficient?

I noted that they are actively working to defeat big government politicians regardless of party. And as far as your last point, it's a worthless throw away clueless statement.

Somebody please define what a limited government political doctrine would entail. Then, tell me if it includes:

  • Giving the government power to forcibly keeping undesired immigrants out of our nation
  • Giving the government power to deprive persons of liberty for self-consuming drugs.
  • Giving the government power to legally kill persons.
  • Giving the government power to wiretap your electronic conversations and detain you indefinitely without trial.
  • Giving the government power to deprive persons of liberty for watching porn.
  • Giving the government power to deprive persons of liberty for hiring or being prostitutes.
  • Giving the government power to enforce religious doctrine.
  • Giving the government power to raise a massive standing army and invade nations at will.
  • Giving the government power to determine who can and cannot marry.
  • Giving the government power to control personal, consensual sexual activity.
  • Giving the government power to discriminate and search "suspected terrorists" at its convenience.
  • Giving the government power to favor specific religious groups.
  • Giving the government power to legislate against "immoral" behavior.
  • Giving the government power to build and hold nuclear weapons.

"Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem."

...
This list largely falls apart under scrutiny. Just take one example: "Giving the government power to deprive persons of liberty for hiring or being prostitutes." I live in the Seattle area, which is almost 100% blue and democrat. The local PDs and politicos just seem to be obsessed about prostitution and strip clubs. They pursued a vendetta against the best strip club here until they finally shut it down.
Scandal-ridden Seattle strip club to shut down | KING5.com Seattle

They enthusiastically helped to quash CraigsList erotic services and now the far-lefty mayor of Seattle has an ongoing dispute with backpage.com over their escort ads. SPD is constantly running prostitution stings.

By contrast you go to red areas such as Florida and Texas, and there is much more tolerance for sex between consenting adults. Florida and Texas have always been near the top, sometimes #1 and #2, in strip clubs per capita.

Which in fact was the Republican position just a generation ago, when the party was led by people living in the land of the sane.
