Newt Gingrich is no conservative. Making commercials about global warming with Nancy Pelosi, pushing one world government with Alvin Toffler, cheating on multiple wives, and the list goes on.

Mitt Romney is no conservative. He supports increased Federal government, pre-emptive wars, big business bailouts, and he's never held a position long enough to 'get the feel' for it, as evidenced by his stuttering, stumbling performances at those so-called debates. Mitt Romney is very familiar with all the major issues of the day because he's been on both sides of all of them.

Rick Santorum is no conservative. He also believes in pre-emptive war, he thinks the government should not only control the Internet, but that they should control the bedrooms of America, too. He is such a radical, right-wing, religious zealot that he screwed our veterans out of over $50 million dollars and finagled the benefit to the Roman Catholic Church.

So tell me Silas,or anyone else that thinks they might know, who in this field is 'A Conservative Republican'?
Zona, I know what your reaction to this is going to be.....I have been there, but the fact is politics is compromise, yep it sucks and it is disgusting, but that is reality.............My perfect Candidate, would privatize everything in the federal government except the military. Return all power back to the states, would understand that everything , EVERYTHING, that the federal government does except for national defense, can and should be done by the private sector. 70% of all land west of the mississippi is owned by the government of one form or another, it should not be so and should be sold to private enterprise. Roads , bridges and highways all can and should be built and maintained by private companies. In my perfect world, the government is a fraction of the size it is today, government is out of education ,healthcare, ss, property ownership etc. Our Military is strong, powerful and unmatched. Taxes are a flat small rate for everyone. Now heres the reality........... we will never see that in my lifetime , probably not even my childrens lifetime if ever, liberals have succesfully bought the electorate since FDR forward, everything is a "right" now, even though there is no basis for it in the constitution. So what do we do, we try to keep the ball moving in our direction, yes it is slow, tedious , frustrating and somtimes hopeless, but when enough like minded people get involved starting at the grass roots level, they can make a change. I will, repeat again, IN 1988 the Pat Robertson Campaign was the catalyst for huge lasting change in the Republican party, weather you agree with it or not , they set the precedent for grass roots fundamental change in a political party. In 1994 Gingrich traveled the country and created a historical transfer of power in the congress. So to answer your question, are any of these guys my dream candidate.........not by any stretch, but at the end of the day I will vote for the guy I think will be as close to what I hope for. I know what Gingrich is capable of, I worked with him in 94 and in our state, (a very liberal state) we threw out all the liberals and put in republicans , including the sitting speaker of the house ( only the second time in history). Romney reminds me of Bush 41, would still take him any day over Obama, but he just seems to be from the Bush, Ford, Dole wing of the party. Santorum , not as bad as Romney but, I still have a bad taste in my mouth when he supported Arlen Spector over a very Conservative challenger, I understand his reason's,again would vote for him any day of the week over Obama. Ron Paul, Sorry he lost me the minute he said 9/11 was our own fault, he spends way too much time appologizing for all our enemies and pandering to the antiwar crowd and not nearly enough time talking about all the things I listed above.......now you can call me all kinds of names and tell me what that makes me, but the fact is I dont trust Paul to keep us safe, if he ever became President, the left would have a hay day gutting our military with his blessing. But they certainly would not let him dismantle the government , and I really dont feel confident that he would have the heart to do it. I wish Paul would spend less time running for President and more time building a Libertarian coalition in Congress, that would be actual progress...unfortunately I do believe the Paul campaign is more occupy wall st than it is tea party and that will never win a Republican primary.

With how far to the right both parties have shifted over the past 30 years or so, today's democrats are basically the republicans of yesteryear.

Silas, I'd quote your post to dispute it but I can't find a punctuation break to use. I guess, like me, tonight's debate has you drinking something stronger than sassafras tea.

9/11 WAS our fault. Plain and simple, unvarnished truth. We've spent the last 60 years meddling in the internal affairs of sovereign countries in the Middle East to satisfy our thirst for petroleum, at the behest of huge corporations who's dirty money greases the wheels of the political machine.

You don't have to LIKE the truth, but sooner or later you're going to have to FACE it.

Our own Central Intelligence Agency told us it was our fault, they called it 'Blowback'.

But like most other Americans, you'd rather march down the primrose path with your rose-colored glasses on singing Polly Wolly Doodle All the Day.

How many more of our best and brightest need to be sacrificed on the altar of a failed foreign policy before you stand up and say 'ENOUGH!'

I'm standing.

So the CIA is wrong?
I'm sorry you're unable to get past the jingoistic saber-rattling provided by the folks who brought you Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, but if you discount what I said, you discount the most highly trained intelligence service in the world.

You seem pretty intelligent, Silas, why can't you see what it is we have done, and what we continue to do, that is NOT in our best interests, but in the interests of those who PROFIT from our militarism?
