RealClearPolitics - President Obama vs. Republican Candidates

This is an interesting poll. It shows that Obama would win against ANY of the Republican candidates if ran against him in 2012. And you can't say this is innaccurate, because it's the average of ALL polls out there (Gallup, Rasmussen, etc.).

I agree with the poll completely. As someone who voted Republican my entire life, I think 2012 will be the first year I will vote Democrat for president. None of the GOP candidates excite me or agree with my ideas, except for Ron Paul.

One should find a candidate that adheres with the Constitution, not one's own ideas. Ron Paul is the only candidate with a clean voting record to reflect that Constitutional adherence, period.

Yeah, there is a huge number of us who are voting Ron Paul all the way up to the general. We have the numbers, which are being ignored, but if he lost, our big numbers will vote Obama in, just so we can get better non-authoritarian republicans in 2016.

That doesn't mean he's the best candidate. The Constitution is an outdated piece anyway.

I really don't get the obsession with the Constitution anyway, since no candidate truly knows what it means and entails.

The Constitution is quite simple.

  1. It is the law of the land, so it must be followed.
  2. If you don't like the law of the land, you change the law, you don't ignore it.
The real question should be, lets name the times where the Constitution has been ignored, and more good than bad occurred. It could have been written 1 million years ago, that doesn't change the fact that it has been the greatest assessment of rights that any government has every written in all of history. That is why so many people get upset when it is ignored.

You're moving to the UK, do you think that you will follow the Magna Carta?

remember, when the Republicans get down to the final candidate all this will change. Right now you take a poll and X wants Romney, Y is for Perry (who hasn't announced) and Z is pulling for Paul, while the Democrats only have one candidate. I will also add, if you claim you are a life long Republican and say you are voting for Obama, I am guessing your life hasn't been too long. NO lifelong Republican who has voted for Republicans for Pres would support Obama.

Actually there are a lot that are planning on doing just that depending on who the Rep nominee is. Why should we keep voting for a Dem in Rep clothing?

The Constitution has many, many shortcomings and it's downright laughable that Americans view it as being the best thing that ever existed. It is one of the reasons the USA is in a hot mess right now.

What infuriates me though is the use of the Constitution and the Founding Fathers by the Tea Party/GOP as a way to appeal to (naive) masses.

you actually mean you would vote for Obama if your God, Paul does not get the nomination? I find that almost impossible to believe..If that is the case you certainly are not real Republicans. This is not a blast on Paul by any means, it is just so far out I can't believe it. Did you not vote for McCain in 2008?
