Big news about the possible future water park has been leaked by El Paso Inc, and it looks like it is Hawaiian Falls and they are planning big things for the Northeast. The city has received two proposals, one from Harvest Family Entertainment, which runs seven Hawaiian Falls Waterparks in Texas, the other proposal is from Fieldhouse USA which built and operates a huge indoor sports facility in Frisco, TX. It is likely that both Hawaiian Falls and Fieldhouse would work together at the NE Cohen location.

The city has two proposals in hand for a multi-million dollar project that includes a water park, adventure park and athletic complex.
The water park would be seasonal but the adventure park would run year round and of course so will the new athletic complex.

IMO, this would be huge for the NE and all of El Paso really. I think this will spur way more economic development in this area than Cohen ever did, so hopefully this happens as it will do wonders for the NE and it will give the people of El Paso another attraction to go to.

Here we go again: "So far, City Council hasn’t discussed the water park project or how the city might finance an investment of $20 million or more as part of a public-private partnership."

They haven't, they've only been briefed on this topic in private, but in the public forum nothing had been discussed.

I gotta pat myself on the back for calling this one back in 2012.
