Jobless claims have peaked? GM isn't done shutting down all the dealerships yet! DH got caught in that garbage yesterday. 27 years at the same employer and now he is jobless. Thanks to the corporate greed and mismanagement of GM. He was only 3 years from his retirement, and now gets nothing of it. No severance, not even a thank you for loyalty. The family that owns the dealer was even basically kicked in the teeth by GM. So no, I think the recession is far from over!

Doesn't employment go up during the summer months every year? Summertime jobs, part time jobs, kids out of school, that sort of thing? Plus seasonal farm jobs.
But I don't like this idea that the economy improving even slightly now is somehow proof we've made it out of the woods. If anything, things look darker now in the near future after the governments handling of the economy results are made known. Higher interest rates, higher taxes, higher oil and gas prices, etc.

Job Losses at 345,000, Less Than Forecast; 9.4% Rate - Economy * US * News * Story - CNBC.com (http://www.cnbc.com/id/31121301 - broken link)

Here's another tidbit to chew on....job loss (non-farm payroll) was -345,000 for May. This is well below the estimated -525,000 expected. This number is still negative....still sucks to be one of those people, but the trend is absolutely heading in the correct direction.

I know some of you will believe this number is propaganda or some kind of conspiracy, and so be it, but this is one more sign that the decline has bottomed and the trend is in the right direction.

If the recession is over I haven't noticed. Jobs are still hard to get.

Once again....the recession can be over (not saying it necessarily is yet) and jobs can still be hard to find or unemployment may still climb even with 1% to 2% GDP growth.

When do the jobs get created? In what areas do they predict job growth?

What is the cause of this recovery? Will the recovery reflect true growth of will it be another type of bubble?

Well it's not a surprise. Eventually the "unemployed" are taken off the list when unemployment runs out. Those ineligible for unemployment are not even counted. All government numbers are rigged, they cannot do anything other than cook the books.
