Are the Greeks being flat out selfish and entitled? (free market, company, tax)

I guess this is OK to post here since I am basically coming at this as an investor.
I'm not an expert at this and only know what is reported but it looks like the Greeks are basically asking the rest of Europe and by extension, even the U.S., to bail them financially out because they are not only so selfish but also feel entitled to be bailed out by other countries to support their lazy lifestyle.
Am I being too harsh here?
Is there more to this?
Will I as a U.S. bondholder and investor be affected by this madness?
The way I see it, they are only going to need this financial help again further down the road. It's just a bandaid. The European Union should sell Greece to China...which is what I wanted to do with California. Then the Chinese could have 2 vacation hotspots.
If Greece intered a state of institutional poverty - they would still manage to have a clean bed to sleep in - They would still have food - they would still partake in all the human pleasures...so - what's the big deal? They will continue to enjoy life - and we will not.

Great idea - the folks in China could chain them all up with a valium drip that would keep the calm as they sat on the assembly line and made more useless junk for Walmart that ends up in the land fill site after a week.
Most western societies are selfish.
It is what getting ahead and competition is all about.
One day this childish behaviour will go away. We have been given enough for everyone.
It's poor management and selfish intent that creates this roller coaster of destruction.
Greece is a democracy, and its national policy is that which is directed by the citizenry in free and fair elections. If the USA doesn't like what they do, we can always go in and do some more nation-building.
Fancy the USA accusing somebody of being selfish and entitled, as well as finding fault with democracy.
The Greeks spawn from eastern Orthodoxy - They really don't believe in this Catholic stuff if you slave away all your life keeping the rich rich...That you will get your reward in heaven...That you get paradise when you are dead...There has never been a report back from the other side - from the dead.
I've noticed a pattern among the Greeks when this debt crisis is discussed that I find "interesting". When asked why the country is in financial trouble, Greeks will blame their elected politicians. According to them, their politicians are a bunch of "crooks and thieves". Seldom do I hear individual Greeks talk about the low retirement ages in their country or the other benefits their state has granted them. Or maybe, the Greek populace turned a blind eye to politicians who were stealing the country blind, so long as they got their benefits?
Well said
Although America's welfare state is less generous than Europes, I notice the same kind of "bind eye" behavior among many here. Also, there's a tendency to notice the corrpution of the elites (true) but ignore the corruption of average folks.
