In this article the IMF is warning of the real possibility of worldwide social unrest due to high unemployment. What do you think the implications of this are, and do you feel there will eventually be wars created from the social unrest.

House robberies for certain, and in some areas of cities, looting and break-ins. Even here in my "safer" area there are more house robberies, car thefts. Now whehter this is tied to unemployment per se I don't know. It is entirely possible for hungry people en masse to do dire things. I'm sure the world governments have plans to keep desperate moves under control.
Americans (other than the courageous war protestors, not too long ago) are not taken to rioting in the streets like in other countries. But, if things get bad enough down the road, anything is possible. Look, you can't take away peoples' livelihood (jobs) and healthcare (health insurance affordability) and homes (foreclosures and unaffordable rents) and expect people to take it all lying down. The key for gov'ts is to be certain that there few ways for people to get together to act. A high drama on TV is always a good bet (Lewinsky, OJ, which took away the country's attention all during the buildup years to Iraq and Afghanistan). Keep the masses diverted and down enough so they can't act. And then there's always the nat'l guard and tear gas and prison, etc. It would be interesting to see what the plans are for dealing with social upheaval.
Politicians are incapable of actually solving problems, as they are the problem, and not the solution. They are by trade, are professional finger pointers. The question is when domestic unrest will be pressure them into pointing those fingers at their neighboring countries in order to deflect blame from themselves. History shows politicians will do anything to retain power, including steering their country into war. My guess is next year economic problems will result in major escalations in international tensions.
It is obvious those in power have not done enough to alleviate the jobs crisis. Actually, one crime is going down: residential burglaries. That is because of more people at home. Politically is where the unrest will be. Hitler got his start during economic crisis.
Greece is having riots over the austerity measures.
Third world nations are having food riots because the cost of commodities have risen and they just cannot afford the bare minimum foodstuffs.
It's happening only you don't read about it too much in US media.
. . . . And then there's always the nat'l guard and tear gas and prison, etc. It would be interesting to see what the plans are for dealing with social upheaval.
Wouldn't be surprised to see another "terrorist incident" to divert attention away from the economic problems. Americans take to the streets in protest? Not until cable TV and McDonald's becomes unaffordable.
If this happens you don't want to be in a big city as it will be survival of the fittest.
