I don't understand turning your dog into an accessory to garner attention for yourself. I guess some people always need to be the focus of attention and having a zebra striped dog will get you noticed. To me, this kind coloring/cutting/costuming is all about the people involved and is not about what is best for the dog.
As a chow owner myself, I'd never ever dye my dogs coat a different color. It's hard enough to maintain their coats, and anytime you cut or change their fur, you risk it not growing back properly in the future. She's beautiful enough as it is.
I'm sure they garner a lot of attention though when wandering through crowds. I had a connection in Charlotte airport last week, and saw the craziest dog I've ever seen. It was a white poodle that had been groomed into the usual puffs, but each puff was dyed a different florescent pink/green/yellow/etc color; everyone in the airport was staring and doing double-takes as they walked by, but I felt horrible for the dog. It looked humiliated.
My dog can get fairly close to that! And no dyes or funky haircuts needed, haha
You're right, that is pretty close. With a little more attitude (he looks like he is yawning) and about 900 pounds more, he could be a dead-ringer.
