I say DO IT...DO IT....DO IT. You'll be doing the black lab a big favor! Black dogs are the hardest to get adopted (beside pits).

For many years, like close to 40, I've had 2 of whatever species -cats or dogs - I think 2 keep each other company and they don't get lonely. I had a Weimaraner who was 6 y/o and acting very old, so I got a puppy so my children wouldn't be quite so unhappy when she died. She perked up and lived another 6 yrs. She was just lonely by herself! Do it!

I want to, but I really don't know if I have it in me for a toddler, infant, and 2 puppies who need just as much if not more attention as the human babies. LOL. He is being brought to the PetSmart this Sunday (that's where our ARF showcases their adoptees). I'm going to let it marinate a little this weekend and see if he's gone on Monday (please be gone please be gone please be gone-LOL). If we see him in the back yard again, I think we will revisit the conversation.

I'm all for getting animals in pairs...it ends up being easier in the longrun since they have each other to play with and nap with while you're at those dreaded PTA meetings! Awww, come on...you know you want to do it!

All kidding aside....I know how hard everyday life can be....add a couple of kiddos, and the other animals....it would be very easy to be over-whelmed...Good luck with any decision you make

This thread is tempting ME to get another!

But not really...my current new adoptee has some stuff we have to work on. By this time next year, maybe...(perhaps by then we'll have that leash walking issue down...)

Good luck!

I'd love to get a friend for my little gal. She gets so bored.
But we are only 'allowed' one pet as far as I know, though my neighbor has 2 cats and these other folks have 1-3 (not sure) pugs.

But 2 labs..mine is half lab and so needy!
