A chihuahua!

What the heck is wrong with the animal encounter training with Missouri deputies? Shoots a chihuahua 3 times (in the house and kills it in its kennel) it because it was aggressive?

Quote:
The deputy, Kelly Barks, resigned last month after she was placed on administrative leave pending results of an internal investigation of the February incident that began with a domestic violence call.

McElrath said Barks arrested a man at the scene, and then got his permission to search the residence. Once inside, she was confronted by the man's three growling dogs.

Believing the Chihuahua had bitten her, Barks shot it and went outside. After realizing she was fine, she went back into the residence where, McElrath said, the dog was still acting aggressively - so she shot it again.

The dog then went into its kennel, and the deputy fired the third and fatal shot.

What the heck are they being taught at the academy about encounters with domestic animals?

WOW

Shot it three times before it died in its freaking kennel?

Number one she is a horrible shot and should be fired. (OK I see where she resigned. Still not good enough.)

Number two she should be locked up for animal cruelty.

You know I usually side with officers most of the time but some of these idiot LEO's lately just need to be weeded out and prosecuted.

It doesn't exactly take a rocket scientist to just shut the door on the kennel. Good grief.

A pooch that small, even snapping, can't you just toss a blanket over it and pick it up with gloved hands?

What a pathetic excuse for a human being. She needs to go to jail. I understand defending yourself, but it's a chi-hua-hua.

Some people are just too cruel to be allowed to walk the streets.

It's scary to think that some of the people who are employed to protect us are so vicious.

Not only should she not be a police officer anymore, she shouldn't be allowed to own a gun as a private citizen. She doesn't have good enough judgement for that.

She is an absolute moron! I certainly hope she would have been fired, had she not resigned. Imagine if a child had been in the house. She probably would have shot them if they looked at her funny.

Hey, hey...maybe it was a Pit Chihuahua.

Honestly, they should make her a meter maid and make her write all her tickets in crayon.

Okay, I know it's a horrible situation, but y'all's comments are actually making me chuckle, especially the one about throwing a blanket over the dog and picking it up as a much simpler solution.

This officer was clearly afraid of Chucky when she was a child (perhaps she still is), and never realized how impotent a small doll is against an adult. Clearly, she believed that the dog had supernatural powers and, like Chucky, wouldn't die even when shot.

On a scarier note, it is rather disturbing that someone like this is a law-enforcement officer who was actually legally issued a gun and imbued with the authority to do as her "sound judgement" saw fit.
