What the heck is wrong with the animal encounter training with Missouri deputies? Shoots a chihuahua 3 times (in the house and kills it in its kennel) it because it was aggressive?
Quote:
The deputy, Kelly Barks, resigned last month after she was placed on administrative leave pending results of an internal investigation of the February incident that began with a domestic violence call.
McElrath said Barks arrested a man at the scene, and then got his permission to search the residence. Once inside, she was confronted by the man's three growling dogs.
Believing the Chihuahua had bitten her, Barks shot it and went outside. After realizing she was fine, she went back into the residence where, McElrath said, the dog was still acting aggressively - so she shot it again.
The dog then went into its kennel, and the deputy fired the third and fatal shot.
Not only should she not be a police officer anymore, she shouldn't be allowed to own a gun as a private citizen. She doesn't have good enough judgement for that.
She is an absolute moron! I certainly hope she would have been fired, had she not resigned. Imagine if a child had been in the house. She probably would have shot them if they looked at her funny.
Okay, I know it's a horrible situation, but y'all's comments are actually making me chuckle, especially the one about throwing a blanket over the dog and picking it up as a much simpler solution.
This officer was clearly afraid of Chucky when she was a child (perhaps she still is), and never realized how impotent a small doll is against an adult. Clearly, she believed that the dog had supernatural powers and, like Chucky, wouldn't die even when shot.
On a scarier note, it is rather disturbing that someone like this is a law-enforcement officer who was actually legally issued a gun and imbued with the authority to do as her "sound judgement" saw fit.
