A Memphis, Tenn., man is in critical condition Wednesday after his dog shot him in the back.
Police say King George, a 150-pound Great Dane, accidentally knocked a .22-caliber pistol off his owner's end table around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The gun went off, hitting his 21-year-old owner in the back, MyFOXMemphis.com reports.
But, wait and see...because there are going to be idiotic people out there, demanding for the dog to be put to sleep, because he/ she didn't have a gun license
I think it is a little irresponsible to leave a gun just sitting out in the open on an end table like that to start with. In my opinion, if you have a gun it should be kept in a safe place so that nothing like that could ever happen.
1972, just as I started grade school, one of my schoolmates, Greg Alba, was shot by his father while he was cleaning a rifle and the boy was killed.
My bus used to pass by the Alba's house every day and as the years went on the house became neglected and sad. The life, it seemed to me, had gone out of it and every day it served to remind me of how careful one has to be when handling firearms.
Yes, I have guns in my house and most people who live here do, but that event made a big impression on me and I'm grateful I had the sense to recognize it.
Now I wonder what will happen to the dog with that last comment by the fiancee......
