Me too! My teen-age son is supposed to help with the walking but you know how that goes. And he did flat-out tell me that if I got a yorkie; he would not walk the yorkie with a pink leash around the neighborhood!

I fully understand that - but the Westie (his choice of dog) requires a TON more exercise than the yorkie and I have to still argue with him every day to walk Ringo if I don't have time for a long walk.

We have 3 labs (OK, one of them is still a mystery breed but definitely a lab mix). We walk them together. They are all relatively the same size (105lbs, 75lbs, 60lbs) so it is probably easier than walking a large and small dog.

I used to have to walk them seperately...I have a Doberman and a German Shepherd. I decided to link their leashes together and walk them at the same time, it's much faster to get both of them their exercise done together IMO.

Last night I took Buddy(Lab/Shepherd mix) for a jog first and then came home and took Siera for a walk. The jog-walks were great but I could hear my Buddy cry/barking from inside the house all the way up the road. I think I will try both of them again tonight and see if I can get them a little more in sync and manageable. I cant stand to have my baby upset when I know all he wants is to be with me.

I walk mine together (a 60 pound shepherd mix and a 25 pound beagle). It works because they are both old and pretty much go at the same pace.

My situation isn't quite as extreme as yours. I have a 15 month old, 25 lb beagle-cocker mix that pulls, and a twelve year old Lhasa that weighs about 12 lbs. I walk them both for a mile or less, so the Lhasa gets to stretch her legs -- one lead in either hand. After the short walk, I take her home for her morning nap, and then we go for a longer walk.
