This is what I usually get at the store:

Protein:
Natural Crunchy Peanut Butter
Sliced Turkey from the Deli
Organic Chicken Breasts
Wild Salmon
Tilapia
Canned Tuna
Bag of Almonds or Walnuts
Eggs
Fat Free Yogurt
Milk

I try not to eat red meat (unless I know it is good quality) or any processed meats like hotdogs or corned beef.

Carbs/Fiber:
Oatmeal
Sweet Potatoes
100% Whole Wheat Pasta
100% Whole Wheat Whole Grain Bread
Brown Rice (not instant)

Fruit:
Berries
Pears & Apples
Kiwi
Bananas
Plums

Vegetables:
Mushrooms (portobella and shiitake)
Carrots (with leaves still on, baby carrots taste like $h!t to me)
Cabbage or Bok Choy
Fresh Tomatoes
Onion (Spanish, White & Green)
Spinach

Other:
Olive Oil
1 cream filled chocolate Krispy Kreme doughnut

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Notice how just about everything is a whole natural food.
Next time you are at the grocery store, look at the people buying pre-made frozen food like Hot Pockets or Lien Cuisine or Healthy Choice. It's all fat people.
Learn to cook. The time that your have while your stomach thinks you are starving it can be used by cooking your food. Plus your sex life with improve if you learn to cook.

Oleo's Tips:

- Don't waste your time counting calories, just be aware of what you are putting into your body. Eat more whole foods.

- Front load your carbs. You aren't running a marathon in your sleep, so stop eating a big bowel of spaghetti and apple pie with ice cream for dinner. Make breakfast the largest meal of the day. Oatmeal is the best thing you can eat for breakfast. You will burn off your breakfast during the whole day. Eat a light dinner like some chicken and vegetables at least 3 hours before you go to bed.

- Drinking water all the time gets boring. Start drinking tea. Try to get only natural kinds, not sugar added or flavor added ones. I have a green tea one from Japan, one Jasmine and one Herbal Peach tea. Only drink tea in the morning, never at night. Calm your body before you are about to go to sleep

- Don't over eat. Start drinking more water. Drink 2 cups of water before you eat and then 2 after. Chew slowly and take your time. Enjoy your food.

i make big salads. i cook and season chicken breast and cut it up and put it in the salad. i boil eggs and put them in there. i also put lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, and onion in there and use balsamic vinegar instead of dressing. i also make stir fry and use tofu instead meat and brown rice. i also eat turkey sandwiches with mustard on whole wheat bread with some lettuce, onion, and tomato. for beef, maybe you could make homemade burgers and use egg whites instead of the whole egg and mix some bread crumbs with it and put it on a whole wheat bun. good luck

Fat is not your enemy, carbs are. You should actually increase fats in the form of Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocados, Truly raw nuts, organic meat...etc..

Cut out the cheerios, cut out the dairy (except eggs), and substitue raisins for lower glycemic fruit such as berries (all kinds).

If you are looking to purchase beef, buy beef tenderloin. it is very tender and very lean.

I agree to look for the right fats. Problems with low fat processed foods it the sugar content. So do watch for that. But I made a thread with healthy alternatives WITH nutritional content. So if you find anything you like or are interested in via this thread. Post it:

https://www.city-data.com/forum/diet-...y-posting.html

I will probably start posting in there this weekend...

Wow, I just found this forum and i already love it! We all seem to be on the same path in life. All of your posts were almost like "reading my mind". Salad, drink water, lower glycemic foods, and lean meat.

I have tried to lose weight so I can be a more fun mom for my children for 3 years. It was not until I decided to become educated on the food that I put into my body that I started to see a real change. After that it's been much more simple for me to find a plan that works for me.

Anyways, that is my little 2 cents. I have lost 17 pounds in the past 2 months and I am so excited :-) I even posted a little article giving my tips that worked...it is honest not commercial and I hope it hopes others.

[mod] no private websites on cd , please [/mod]

Nobody mentioned soda on here, but I never drink it--not even the diet kind. Aspartame does very bad things to my head, but I've talked to plenty of other people who didn't have problems and they felt better and lost weight when they stopped drinking it. Some new studies are showing that aspartame may raise your blood sugar even though it has no sugar in it, and when your blood sugar whacks, you gain weight.
