Is the weather this week normal for Denver this time of year?

Perhaps not the temperature swing we've had, but, the snow can definitely happen during the week of Halloween, but, during the 5 1/2 years we lived in Parker, not before the week of Halloween. But, if a cold front comes down here, from up north, before that week, we will see snow.

Wife and I had never experienced snow during Halloween week where we grew up...….northeastern Indiana/me and southeastern Michigan/wife.

NOCO/Loveland, got around 4" Sunday night into Monday morning. Then the sun came out and most was melting away. This morning at 7AM, it snowed quite a bit after midnight and is still snowing as I write this. Everything is covered again!

Many people had their windshield wiper blades up, as we did, on Monday AM. I cleaned our windshield off early Monday afternoon and put the blades back down. Thought about the next storm coming in early Tuesday morning, so pulled the wipers back up last night. Most everyone else left their wipers down. Those wipers will now be frozen to the windshield!

Nothing plowed this morning driving out to the airport, what a disaster. Quite amazing how few accidents there were.

It took an hour to get from Parker/Florida to Leetsdale/Alameda this morning. Our bus driver took her time and didn't get brave, but we passed about 5 broken down RTD buses on our way into downtown. State Government offices in the metro area are being discharged at 2:30 today and I'm hoping for an uneventful ride home.

My favorite weather blog indicates we may be in for quite a bit more snow tonight and into tomorrow. I wonder if it's too soon to celebrate a snow day.

Never too soon if there's a wine shop on the way home .... priorities, ya know.

I'm a winter lover aside from driving on crowded, slick roads. It's been a no-brainer to take the light rail every day this week for safety and reliability reasons.

Nope. One or two October snows a year is typical, but they're storm systems that are barely below freezing, with heavy snow that only sticks to the grassy areas. Last week's snow was typical.

Going from 70s-80s to 10s with 6" of powdery snow on the ground like what happened at the beginning of the month and this week isn't normal at all. The storm earlier this month was truly freaky. Weather patterns like this are more typical of January and February, especially the whole deal where the days stay below 20.

I shoveled about 3" at 8am, and there's another 3-4" on the driveway right now. Worked from home, and probably will tomorrow, too.
